Euro Cup:
Croatia 0-1 Portugal (AET): Ricardo Quaresma scores dramatic late winner to seal quarter-final spot after drab draw in Lens
Ricardo Quaresma scored late in extra time as Portugal defeated Croatia to set up a Euro 2016 quarter-final match against Poland. The substitute headed in from two yards after keeper Danijel Subasic could only palm Cristiano Ronaldo’s shot into the path of the Besiktas winger. The contest was a turgid affair for much of the 120 minutes.
Portugal’s last-eight match will take place at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Thursday.

Wales reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 as Gareth McAuley’s own goal gave them victory over Northern Ireland in a tense last-16 encounter.
Northern Ireland shaded much of the game and largely snuffed out Wales’ attacking threat, but they also lacked a cutting edge in attack. Wales only managed one shot on target and the game was settled by the one moment of real quality at Parc des Princes. Northern Ireland’s resistance was finally broken when centre-back McAuley turned Gareth Bale’s low, whipped cross into his own net.
It means Wales – in their first major tournament finals since the 1958 World Cup – will face Belgium or Hungary in the last eight in Lille on Friday.

Rugby Union: England tour of Australia

England defeated Australia 44-40 in a thrilling third Test to complete an historic series whitewash Down Under. The tourists’ tries came courtesy of Dan Cole, Mike Brown, Billy Vunipola and Jamie George as lead fluctuated . Near-flawless kicking of Owen Farrell added 24 points to the total, with six penalties and three conversions. Australia’s tries came from Bernard Foley, Dane Haylett-Petty, Michael Hooper, Israel Folau and Taqele Naiyaravoro
Foley also kicked 15 points – three penalties and three conversions – but it wasn’t enough.
England won 10th Test in a row and scored more points away to a Southern Hemisphere giant than ever before.

England had never won a series in Australia, but they followed a 39-28 victory in the first Test in Brisbane with a 23-7 triumph in Melbourne before completing the job in Sydney.
Jones has guided them to nine successive wins, including the Grand Slam at the Six Nations, since replacing Stuart Lancaster in November after they failed to get past the group phase of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

State of Origin
Queensland has defeated New South Wales to win State of Origin II and the series for 2016 in Brisbane. The Maroons defeated the Blues 26-16 after an exhilarating second-half of rugby league at Suncorp Stadium. Dane Gagai was the star of the night, scoring three tries in Queensland’s 10 point triumph over New South Wales. The Blues fought desperately in the second-half to get back into the contest but ultimately came up short.
