SCATS (Sri Lankan Study Centre for the Advancement of Technology & Social Welfare) Excellence Awards 2017 Program was successfully held in Melbourne where Nepalese Community showed their active participation. The Award Ceremony was introduced with SCATS DVD presentation first followed by welcome dance by Jannali Dancing Academy and welcome speech by President of SCATS, Wasantha Perera. The program was further addressed by Founder President Gamini Perera OAM and Hon. Minister Marlene Kairouz, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Gaming and Local Government, Representing Premier of Victoria and Minister of Multicultural Affairs. The program was further address by Mayor, Brimbank Cr.John Hedditch.
In this amazing Award Ceremony, Melbourne Nepalese Community West represented Nepal which was coordinated by Dr. Ugendra Regmi, Advisor Nepalese Association of Victoria ( NAV), Founder member Melbourne Nepalese Community, Coordinator – Bal Chautari West, Deputy Coordinator – Non Residence Nepalese Association Australia Victoria (2017-2019). Nepalese kids and seniors showed their dancing skills in the award ceremony. The Nepalese kids dancers were Aaron Regmi, Nista Gurung, Kristi Baidya, Simrika and Pranshi. These kids represents Bal Chautari West Melbourne where Australia-born Nepalese kids are given special training in Nepali Language and many cultural dance every Saturday. The awards received from SCATS was honoured to the kids on 18th of November, Saturday at Bal Chautari Class at Tarneit. The Seniors Dancer were Puja Thapa, Monika Tamang, Sarzu Buddathoki Adhikari and Sushant Yonjan. Moreover there was Arts Competition Held where Nepalese Arun Chiltrakar was the first runner-up.
Well, the award ceremony was successfully ended and Nepalese Participation was highly appreciated by high profile people there.
