Nepalese Association of Victoria successfully organized the first NAV Multicultural Cricket Tournment here in Melbourne. The tournment which was participated by Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Indian, Srilankan and Bhutanese teams was started on April 14 and ended on April 16. People witness semifinal and final games in the same final day of the tournment. The country that has produced the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kholi was up against the country that has produced the likes of great Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara. Shakti Lions (India) was playing Northern Lions (Srilanka) in the final in which the Northern Lions came out top and defeated Shakti Lions by 7 wickets.
Shakti Lions posted 114 runs with the loss of 8 wickets after winning the toss and elected to bat first. Chasing 115 runs to win, Northern Lions managed to get the target in 17 Overs of their play with the loss of just 3 wickets. Northern Lions had defeated NAV Team A by 9 wickets to advance in the finals whereas Shakti Lions passed through NAV Team B defeating them by 79 runs to reach the final.
Nepalese Women Cricket Team was also given some special training by Ex-Australian Women Cricket Team Captain Jodie Fields and Cricket Victoria Shyam Norman. Rabindra Karuna Ratne of Northern Lions was awarded the Man of the Match and Jitendra Singh of Shakti Lions was the Man of the Series.
