After Australia had closed its international border for nearly eight months due to the pandemic. Now Minister Tudge had addressed that the country is working towards getting the borders reopened “slowly, but safely.”
They have first planned to bring some temporary skilled migrants, which are in priority list. They have starting arranging this with New Zealand where you don’t have to quarantine.
Northern Territory will be the first Australian jurisdiction to welcome back international students, as they are planning to bring 70 students from Singapore to Darwin later this month through the country’s first pilot program and the other, up to 300 students into Adelaide via Singapore. They will be spending two mandatory weeks in quarantine at a government facility in Howard Springs.
International travel including both tourists and international students is assumed to remain largely closed off until late next year and then gradually return over time.
