Nepal Women Cricket Captain Rubina Chettri have recently arrived Melbourne today after being selected to join a training programme in the Australian domestic T20 competition, Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) for the season of 2016-17 from Melbourne Renegades. She was welcomed by Tara Gaire, Vice-President of Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV). She will be joining Associate Rookies program in Melbourne from this week. According to Nepalese Cricket Coordinator of Victoria,Tara Gaire “meetings and experience exchange programmes are scheduled between some international players and Chhetri.”
Talking about Chettri, she is an all- rounde who is a middle order batter and right arm medium-fast bowler. She is the only Nepalese women cricketer to take a hat-trick in an Official ICC match. Beside captaining the National team, she was also involved in APF Club. She became the Captain of Women’s team in 2012 replacing Nary Thapa. She captained Nepal from ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup. The program provides rookie players the opportunity to be exposed to elite cricket and play with world-class players and gain some experience in this wonderful sport. This is the right time to level up the cricketing ability in the associate nations and to emerge quality players like Chhetri.
